We nevertheless encourage readers and contributors to continue to address and discuss current issues through this medium without, however, resorting to personal attacks and insults.

Additionally, letters to the editor exceeding 1,250 words in length will no longer be accepted or approved for publication. If a particular point cannot be made or issue addressed within that limitation, we suggest that any such submission be broken down into two or more parts.

Readers submitting online comments to published articles should also note that any urls contained in such comments are not hyperlinked and, as such, will not represent a clickable link for other readers. Furthermore, such urls that do not “wrap” within the column width break our template layout and will not be published.

An excellent and long needed policy change! I contend, however, that most of the ad hominem attacks and insults speak more to the mentality and biases, often political, of the writers than those to whom they are directed.


As a result of our comments feature being overtaken in recent weeks by spammers using fake email addresses, producing a large number of bounced verification emails each day, we have reluctantly decided to suspend the comments section until further notice.
