GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala -- Guatemala will host this year’s first edition of the regional technology event LACNIC On The Move, which will take place in Guatemala City on March 20 to 22.
LACNIC, the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Address Registry, is holding the three-day meeting with the support of the Internet Society, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the national telecoms regulator.
“LACNIC is proud to host this event, in collaboration with other important actors in the regional Internet and technology space,” said Alfredo Verderosa, LACNIC services department manager. “The partnership between LACNIC and other organisations in the global Internet community plays a key role in enhancing the technical and security capacity of the Central American region.”
LACNIC has provided training to some 15,000 technology professionals throughout Central and South America and the Caribbean, through in-person forums, online centres and collaborative initiatives like LACNIC On The Move.
César Diaz, head of strategic relations and telecommunications at LACNIC, said the upcoming meeting “will focus on sharing best practices in cybersecurity, IPv6 deployment and a range of internet governance issues currently under discussion at the global level.”
LACNIC On The Move Guatemala is free but space is limited and registration is required. Registration information and other details are on the official event website: http://onthemove.lacnic.net/en/2017-guatemala/
