Antigua-Barbuda FA sanctioned for breaching FIFA regulations
Published on March 7, 2014 Email To Friend    Print Version

ZURICH, Switzerland (FIFA) -- At its meeting held on 27 February 2014, the FIFA disciplinary committee sanctioned the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) for breaches relating to the FIFA goal regulations.

The ABFA has been ordered to pay a fine of CHF30,000 (US$34,000) for breaching the FIFA goal regulations after having agreed to mortgage a property that was the subject of a FIFA goal programme investment with Antigua Commercial Bank without FIFA’s prior consent.

In accordance with the FIFA Disciplinary Code, the ABFA has also been issued with a reprimand.

In March 2013, the FIFA executive committee approved the general regulations for FIFA development programmes, which define the overall rules and principles applicable to all development programmes for member associations and confederations with the objective of enhancing their governance structure and compliance.

The new regulations build on the strict audit and compliance requirements already in place, while imposing a set of further conditions that member associations and confederations have to fulfill in order to be eligible for FIFA development programmes.
