St Vincent reports significant increase in banana exports

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent -- St Vincent and the Grenadines has seen a significant increase in the number of boxes of bananas exported so far this year.

Agriculture minister, Saboto Caesar, spoke about this development at a media conference.

He said that, according to the Statistical Department in the Ministry of Agriculture, a total of 3,000 boxes have so far been exported this year, compared to 689 last year.

Caesar pointed out that banana farmers may soon be required to increase their exports to Trinidad and Tobago.

The minister also gave an update on the cocoa, condiments and spices industry, as well as marketing initiatives within the Ministry of Agriculture.
