St Lucia service industries to launch export development platform
Published on October 5, 2012 Email To Friend    Print Version

CASTRIES, St Lucia -- The Saint Lucia Coalition of Services Industries (SLCSI) is organizing a stakeholder forum to launch a platform to prepare selected services sectors and firms in Saint Lucia for the export market and exploiting the opportunities in the markets of “Best Bet”.

This market development event will take place on Tuesday October 9, 2012. The forum will be coordinated by representatives of NEX SRL, an international trade consulting firm with much experience in networking with key markets in the Caribbean and across North America, Canada and Europe.

This market development programme was designed to inform and guide selected services firms on ways to take advantage of the many export opportunities that exist in regional markets, as well as within the Trade Agreements signed by St. Lucia.

With financial support from the Caribbean Development Bank and the UKAID through its CARTFUND programme, this market development programme will be implemented over a period of eight (8) months, and will:

1. Identify high potential/”best bet” export markets for the identified services sectors;

2. Aid four key sectors in St Lucia (i.e. creative industries, health and wellness, ICT and professional services) in developing essential export strategies, by the most practical means that can be explored in penetrating the priority export markets.

3. As well as assist a group of 20 interested service firms, with the highest export potential in developing market penetration action plans.
