BRADES, Montserrat (GIU) -- Montserrat’s annual festival opens in just two months and this year the focus has shifted to more community-style celebrations.
According to events coordinator and chair of the festival committee Veta Wade, activities will take place across the island which will allow more villages to experience the energy and celebrations of the season.
The annual festival, which opens officially on December 14 and runs until New Year’s Day, has a packed calendar of activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Montserrat’s only folk singing group the Emerald Community Singers will be hosting two concerts this year. One in Salem on Sunday, December 15 and the second, in Brades, on Monday, December 16.
New this year is an all-day lime in the village of Cudjoe Head on December 24 hosted by the Treasure Spot starting at 7am. Salem Day, which will be held in the island’s Southern-most community of Salem on December 26, 2013. St John’s Day on December 27 is a yearly fixture of the festival but continues to increase in popularity. A Market Day in the future capital of Montserrat, Little Bay is scheduled for December 28th and will feature arts, craft and food from across the island.
