Letter: Time still longer than twine
Published on September 18, 2012 Email To Friend    Print Version

Dear Sir:

Over the last several years, since becoming an officer of the NDP, Vynette Frederick spent most of her time traducing Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves at every turn. Even (Saint) Luke Brown had his share from this “old youth”, who behaves on radio and in other public fora, like a virago. Her behaviour is a disgrace to the legal profession.

After the last general elections, which Gonsalves and the ULP won for the third consecutive time, the NDP sought to undo the will of the people. They brought court cases against several candidates -- winners and losers alike.

So “Madam Virago”, who played dead during the last of the NDP demon-strations, swore to two separate affidavits to support her claims against Dr Gonsalves.

Seems Frederick did not tell the truth. It appears she lied in sworn document filed with the Court. She was arrested and charged with perjury last Wednesday.

“The charges against the former NDP Public Relations Officer follow a judgement handed down by the OECS Court of Appeal on May 31, 2012, which indicated that Frederick intentionally gave evidence which was untrue, in a complaint she brought against Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, following the 2010 general elections...” -- Searchlight Newspaper, Friday, September 14, 2012.

Also, as reported in the same edition of Searchlight, “...Frederick later swore in an affidavit of May 23, 2012 that the word ‘lesbian’ was “inadvertently inserted” in her earlier affidavit...”

Even after a sworn affidavit and the findings of the OECS Court of Appeal judges, Frederick entered “not guilty” pleas to the perjury charges. And in her usual dramatic fashion, met a handful of supporters, showing her ink-stained fingers. The accused “perjurer” told them, “This is what they doing”.

Yes, Madam Frederick, that is what they have been doing since Noah was a little boy. As a lawyer and officer of the court, you ought to know that when someone is arrested and charged for a serious crime, that person is fingerprinted by the police. That is the law. And you (Madam Frederick), no matter what Papa Bayliss says, are not above the law.

Be a real woman and face the music you created. Big girls don’t cry. But then...

It was “just a matter of time”. Time still longer than twine.

Leh arewe bump an wine, inna de perjury line!

Simon Anderson:

VYNETTE FREDERICK and company will not learn.

Telling lies does not pay. I have spoken out about this NDP practice since the Devil was a small boy, but these guys still will not learn.

I did not mean to refer to the female Senator as a "GUY," but then, you never know.....????

They all consume too much LIEAGRA.

Patterson:

A healthy bout of shame on the part of Ms.Vynette Frederick would have indeed gone a long way here for the lady in grey but what did she give us instead!

The “showing [of] her ink-stained fingers..” How terrible sad! Most sad indeed! Life lived up the greasy pole has a way with people!

STEVE_HUGGINS:

IT's a passing shame the Fredericks is not able to appoint her own Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), politically tied to her, so that her DPP could DISALLOW any felonious crime against her including this.

It is not inconceivable that such things can possibly occur in our Caricom region.

YOU say that it would have had to be RAPE ? So, it's NOT rape? Well, with all this hot fury from these political bigots, I had the misunderstanding that it might have been RAPE ? Well...

Oh, you mean to say that it must at least FIVE RAPE CHARGES, and then she could get her case disallowed ?

SO now, why are these ulp sharks out looking for blood?

Let us have JUSTICE FOR ALL in this 21st Century SVG, and the Eastern Caribbean.

I will have to look up this concept of sub judice.

At least, GIVE THE YOUNG LADY HER DAY IN COURT.

THE FEMALE POLICE OFFICER DID NOT GET HER DAY IN COURT. It was denied her.

Is this a PATTERN WITH ULP?

Won't there be ANY JUSTICE IN SVG any more ?

Are we attempting to prejudice people's minds ahead of time? Is this an attempt to poison any jury pool? Can we be here attempting to intimidate the judge(s)?

How come we don't have the common decency to let the juridical system run its course, first ?

I am surprised that former policeman WADE WILLIAMS seem UN-KNOWING of the procedural step of the plea of not guilty, almost automatic in capital offenses. As a matter of course, your legal counsel would usually advise you to enter a not guilty plea. That's how the system works, don't you know - - - or you forget in this particular POLITICALLY-MOTIVATED case ?

I find it past surprising that the police and legal authorities would find it advisable to ARREST A LAWYER and officer of the court IN SVG ACCUSED OF/CHARGED WITH PERJURY or whatever - - - and actually PUT HER IN JAIL.

Senior attorney BAYLISS FREDERICK was unwisely arrested and apparently jailed recently while he attended some sort of public protest demonstration. Seems a pattern here to me, of making sure that these OPPOSITION LAWYERS are actually put in jail by this corrupt political regime.

I feel glad to know, however, that neither attorney Vynette Frederick nor her father, attorney Bayliss Frederic, are ABOVE THE LAW.

My concerned question, though, is: are the ULP LAWYERS ABOVE THE LAW ?

Seeing that he is ALSO a lawyer, can I ask, likewise: IS PRIME MINISTER RALPH GONSALVES ABOVE THE LAW ?

Political sychophancy, partisanship, and pea-brained parochialism, are DESTROYING THE RULE OF LAW in R.M. Cato's beloved SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES.

Such political and legalistic tribalism would do us no good. The MARXISTS don't mind the chaos, they WANT CHAOS, but ultimately their nefarious gambits toward total totalitarian CONTROL, DEMAGOGIC MIS-RULE, will ultimately fail.

The communist juntas in the Caribbean and Latin America will soon convert, shift sides, or be swept away by the new global geopolitical re-alignments. Communism will be utterly suppressed, despite my current and past pleas for some measure of toleration.

The days of atheistic communism are short numbered here in the Eastern Caribbean, and that phenomenon would not be a result of anything that I do or say. Just what I might like to term geopolitical historicism.

Sleep good, Wade.
