Dear Sir:
The people of Grenada have suffered devastating blows since the Tillman Thomas NDC government was inaugurated five years ago. A relentlessly dysfunctional economy and government. All promises made by the Thomas and Burke NDC government thrown out the window.
Ask a reasonably intelligent eight-year-old what Grenadians should do about all the hardship and the suffering they endured under Thomas these last five years, and odds are the answer will be, “Get rid of all of them – duh.” The needs of our communities are been heard loud and clear during this campaign season. The New National Party is an established dedicated bipartisan, representatives that puts politics aside to deliver results for their constituencies. The energy and perspectives that these 15 candidates bring to the people of Grenada are welcome good news as they continue to work to get Grenada’s economy back on track.
The New National Party candidates are listening to their constituencies and really do care. This the people of Grenada know. They are optimistic of the New National Party’s victory. The election is coming after Parliament was dissolved, after months of proroguing it indefinitely. That was a poison pill, and calling general election is only realistic. Instead of trying to help Grenada’s less fortunate, Thomas and his government did everything they could to make the people’s situation worst.
When elected officials try to hide by proroguing Parliament and try to muzzle the people’s opposition and bury the truth, they make our free society less free and less safe. If an elected political party and its candidates or officials cannot fulfill or do the job they were elected to do, and cannot sustain itself or the people of that country, one must ask if it is viable any longer.
Making all things better and the pathways to excellence, crucially strategic planning initiatives and stressed that they are part of why the New National Party is headed towards efforts to rebuild Grenada and to strengthen our people.
“We are looking at the dismal situation in Grenada and it is helping us to better understand where things stand, but also to see why our strategic planning process is so vital for our continued financial health. The Thomas administration has failed the people rather miserably. It’s not about green or yellow, it’s about the red, green and gold. With the majority of Grenadians agreeing on the issues affecting them, problems caused by this inept government, there is no excuse not to be able to solve those problems,” says the New National representative for St David’s, Mr Oliver Joseph, former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The New National Party, a united team, now has the opportunity to come together from across the spectrum, one and all and everything in between. Their goal is to actually solve problems confronting our country and its people. The Grenada New National Party is looking to foster across the aisle cooperation by forging relationship between members of parliament.
That’s what’s missing from our Parliament. It’s not the upcoming general election that’s the problem. The NDC government is worried about their left or right flank. It pushes them to extremes. The topics the New National Party looks to tackle include the economy as a whole, unemployment, health care, education, agriculture, construction, and tourism.
The New National Party is about searching for areas of common ground instead of searching for chances to score points against the other side. Dr Mitchell has embraced this attitude wholeheartedly: “We are truly looking forward to working together as we take this small but important step toward breaking the gridlock in St. George’s Grenada’s Parliament.”
“If nothing else, the last few years of broken government have shown us that we need a platform where we can put our political parties aside and come together for the good of our country. Grenada’s Parliament is so toxic right now, Thomas NDC government has delayed everything for the hardest working Grenadians, I’ve ever met. There’s been more politics in this to last me a lifetime,” said Dr Mitchell, speaking of the prorogation of Parliament by Thomas and Nazim Burke.
Was anyone really surprised by Thomas action to prorogued Parliament indefinitely? The tantrum of “Our way or no way” was just that. Why didn’t those born again NDC political hawks say what they really mean? The NDC mantra of our generation: we got what we want; you are on your own attitude. Mr Thomas, if you truly did care about your actual constituents you’d tell your friends and party leadership to stop messing around and get to work for those who elected you guys into political office.
The New National Party candidates are able to articulate the Grenadian people’s stories and their needs. At the end of the day, the candidates will do the right thing on any problem affecting the people, and that is to bring the relief to those who need it. Mitchell said, “God is inspiring our candidates.” As for the divine inspiration part of the equation, Mitchell, a Catholic, said he “prays every night for strength and courage to go out there and help those who are fighting to make ends meet. I thank God Jehovah for how our campaign is coming along.”
It takes vision to lead a country and its people. winning the 2013 general election will be a breakthrough and good news for the people of the tri-island state, good news for Grenadian families, communities, small and large businesses, good news for the unemployed, good news for education, good news for tourism.
In Grenada, where anger towards Thomas and Burke runs high, the majority of Grenadians at home and abroad are saying they disapprove of the NDC government and are going to vote for change. Common sense and history tells us we are not making the same mistake twice.
“All is well that ends well,” they say. I suppose we will all have to forgive Tillman Thomas NDC ugly episodes of partisan showboating trumping simple human compassion for hurting fellow Grenadians, but we certainly won’t forget it.
The New National Party is embarking on a new term quest to restore a shaky economy and combat unemployment. Sometimes we have to travel a long road to go a short distance. We the people of Grenada have to come together and put an end to all this and say enough is enough. What Thomas and his NDC officials did to Grenada was wrong.
The New National Party is working together on many issues, including advocating for the struggling middle class and the poor people, protecting our people, improving the quality of education, and most especially, helping our communities to recover during this most difficult time.
Working with the 15 New National Party candidates has confirmed for the people of Grenada that they have the resolve to accomplish together the tasks at hand and t they are eager to provide the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique with the services they need, the services they deserve, and the services they expect.
The Grenada New National Party believes small business is the country’s growth engine and they strongly support small companies. The NNP candidates pledge help in assisting in developments and creating opportunities for all Grenadians, regardless of their political orientation. We are all Grenadians, and the New National will fight for us.
Dr Mitchell said he is honoured by faith the people have in the New National Party in crafting legislation and policy that supports the men and women of Grenada. The candidates who aspire to run our country are explaining to the citizens exactly what they plan to do and how they plan to do it.
