In recent weeks, even though there was never a dull moment or topics to write about in the vortex of trepidation in Allen’s UWP, I would not have anticipated the migration of the Standard Poodle, with many shadow portfolios to cover with his signature poodle characteristics.
The elevation to this standard brings to bear the whoopee souls that now form the core of Allen’s UWP. Oh gosh, man, but never mind!
This module of insulate pundit is very much from the advice of political leftovers like Peter Josie, Oswald Augustine and Ezekiel Joseph; not forgetting the sidekick executive, Women in Action (WIA), United PAC and armchair ‘elders’.
Granted that Ezekiel Joseph has remarked that no one is bigger than the party in reference to Hon. Stephenson King and Hon. Richard Frederick – Peter Josie has emphatically stated his disdain for both men (who fed him properly but who now seeks crumbs from the table of Allen as a means of sustenance), it is obvious that both King and Frederick create a physiological challenge to Allen’s UWP.
Hey, they’re not aware of what’s coming soon! But since the full disclosure by Hon. Phillip J. Pierre at the first sitting of parliament that exposed Guy Joseph brother Indian lodge and following the horrible UWP 50th anniversary celebration in Micoud, the snappy patter of the Standard Poodle has widened an unfillable gap of candor and integrity.
The view hasn’t been pretty, having to gravitate to political theatre from signature poodle characteristics that are now very evident at Allen’s UWP press conferences. Allen Chastanet’s proposed plan to improve the public service with plans to decentralise the database system with the creation of government information centres, once elected, is nothing but punditry for dummies.
Then he has the audacity to haul over the coals Kenny Anthony’s shopping spree without taking a look in the mirror at his bountiful expenditure while in office. Both Kenny Anthony’s shopping spree and Allen Chastanet’s bountiful expenditure are two of the same, any way you examine their coats of many colours.
Kenny Anthony and Allen Chastanet have in common low investor confidence, no economic management skills and have become rusty relics, with a dull roar that is crippling the Saint Lucian economy!
While Allen Chastanet was being tossed by the prime minister’s “space tooth brown sugar” press secretary as a “so-called economist who cannot get his basic statistics right”, it took the Lucian People’s Movement (LPM) to rebuff Allen’s misguided tendency on regional economics and growth patterns, even after a schooling in Barbados by the IMF, the World Bank and other institutions he claimed to have visited in Barbados with the leader of the opposition, “LOO, tom-girl”.
And surely, nothing could have prepared me to hear Guy Joseph as the UWP standard loftier persona in the House of Assembly last week, continuously snapping in signature poodle characteristics, on four major bills in parliament, two of which focused on the tourism sector while a third introduce incentives for the agricultural sector.
None of the bills presented meets Guy Joseph minimal understanding, except for the fourth bill to replace the National Development Corporation with its new name “Invest Saint Lucia” – that he may have some knowledge of. Yet in that moment, Guy Joseph’s ramshackle presentation was a familiar reclusive tongue wag, dressed in part and groomed by Allen Chastanet, who continues to wag around constituencies with a desperate nose for a parliament seat.
By Allen’s Chastanet’s tone, his demeanour and that of Allen’s four UWP parliamentarians’ performance to date, it’s very unlikely they can dodge from becoming a screaming meemie – awaiting a cuddle!
