Letter: Facebook and Twitter against Gerrit Schotte

Dear Sir:

We, the children of Curacao, have created a movement on Facebook and Twitter to voice our opinion against Gerrit Schotte.

Not only have his antics hurt our beloved island’s reputation as a good investment environment and a great vacation destination internationally, we are all worse off since Schotte has been in office. Education, infrastructure and healthcare are lagging; our GDP and job market are stagnant. The standard of living on Curacao has decreased and poverty has increased.

Also, did you know Gerrit Schotte, as the first prime minister of Curacao, treated himself to private jet flights that cost the Curacao taxpayer more than $5,000 to $10,000 per hour!

We are sick and tired of his behaviour and are looking for others who want to join us to stop him from being re-elected!

Our Facebook page Yu di Korsou Against Gerrit Schotte has seen more than 2,000 people Like it in less than 2 weeks and it's growing fast!

Our Twitter page has been around a bit longer but has over 35,000 followers from all over the world and it is AgainstSchotte.

By looking at social network activity that is emerging against Gerrit Schotte's re-election, you can see a there is a vast majority of people voicing their dissatisfaction at his two-year political record. The people of Curacao have simply had enough! Together we have more than 37,000 people connected to our pages online.
