Dear Sir:
"Intellectual growth should commence at birth, and cease only at death." Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955) made this observation several years ago. It appears to me that this point is particularly true of several primitive and unenlightened individuals whose super-inflated egos lead them to make pronouncements that bear no resemblance to reality.
When one ceases growing intellectually, their demise cannot be too far distant. With this in mind, my 'friend' Markie Spring (even if he does not consider me to be his friend) seems to have experienced a stall in his intellectual growth. Hopefully, this may only be a temporary situation, and Mr Spring will soon recognize the folly of his ways.
The accompanying difficulty in this case though, is that Spring rose from the doldrums of Vincentian society to the middle class in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This was done through his educational achievement, but unfortunately, like cheap wine, it has gone to his giddy head. This sad situation is partially understandable, since many individuals experience significant difficulty adapting to improved circumstances. As a child, I often heard the popular saying which went something like this: "You can take the man out of the gutter, but you cannot take the gutter out of the man."
When I first arrived in the USA several years ago, my friends who lived there welcomed me with this bit of advice: "If you want to make it here, you have to lie." I didn't believe that then -- don't believe it now. As a businessman, I have gotten used to the saying that, to be successful in business, you have to lie, cheat, and be deceitful. I never believed that was true then, and I still don't believe it now either. My success in this field, without resorting to lying, cheating and being deceitful, has proven that such actions are completely unnecessary. My point here though, is that there is a significant portion of our citizenry which believes that lying is an essential ingredient for success.
With this in mind, Markie Spring frantically, even energetically, abandoned his formal education and questionable decency -- he put on his crooked, fraudulent, deceptive cap, and decided that lying is the way to go. On December 6th, 2010, Spring told the mother of all lies on this very forum (entitled "A political war of bloodshed") and readers are advised to investigate for themselves. Spring consciously premeditated, ardently planned, and wrote a column here on CNN, lying about political violence in St Vincent. Three ULP women were attacked, kicked and beaten mercilessly by four NDP men, and Spring reported this incident, substituting the victims and attackers. He blatantly and falsely reported that the attackers were ULP and the victims were NDP members! This is only one example of Spring's numerous lies, which he continues to indiscriminately spew whenever the urge overwhelms him.
"My point?" Spring has absolutely no credibility, and is not to be believed. Spring, on account of his lies, should be completely banned from writing on this forum. How could anyone know when he is speaking the truth? His lies are too numerous for me to list them all here, so we will move on.
I believe that Markie Spring by nature is not an obnoxious, detestable, disagreeable, or disgusting person, -- but he is simply human. Being homo sapiens, Spring simply has a problem with his moronic political affiliations and speaking the truth.
Spring's Political Philosophy
Markie Spring is on record as earnestly desiring to become prime minister of St Vincent. He said so himself on several occasions and wanted to become our prime minister by the age of 40. Since that goal is no longer possible, his new target is doing so by age 50. Just take a look at his Facebook page! Spring therefore has a political axe to grind, and his political aspirations blind him to the reality of all the existing facts.
As far as his awkward, ineffectual personal politics is concerned, the man is lost. Spring feels that formally organized political parties should be banned, and motorcades should be illegal. He clumsily advocates that each politician should contest independently, and then a coalition constituted to form a government. In other words, he recommends that the cart should be placed before the horse.
After the elections are complete, he ineptly suggests that a coalition should be created! I respectfully submit that this is a recipe for massive and disastrous failure. What would be the governing "party's" ideology with this patchwork of varying philosophies? What would be their manifesto, or plan of action since every candidate would have a different agenda?
Spring considers himself a "moderate," "neutral," and "non-aligned." These are great labels, but don't they all mean different things to different people? Spring said that he cannot see the difference between the Democratic and Republican parties in the United States. Spring plainly said that he will never vote for the ULP or NDP in St Vincent since HE DOES NOT SEE a difference in the parties. Spring even got to the point of boldly stating that political parties should be eliminated! How ignorantly extreme, and divorced from reality could one become?
If someone like Spring ever happened to become a prime minister of any country, and believes that political parties should be abolished, then we would simply find ourselves with a dictator. This has happened previously. It happened in Germany in the early 1900s and Hitler was the result.
Should anyone wish to check my claims above, they could be found on this forum where Spring wrote an asinine article entitled "Which political party would I vote for in St Vincent and the Grenadines," dated August 24, 2011. The most prolific writers on this Vincentian blog all roundly chided, denounced and castigated Spring's folly.
I have long been Spring's most consistent and persistent critic, but lest any believe that I am the only one, here is a small sample of what each had to say regarding Spring's ignorant and consistent drivel.
Others Endorse Spring’s Folly
ANGUS JOHNNY was the first out of the blocks to roundly condemn Springs stupidity calling it simply, “irksome." Johnny was constrained, but he obviously recognized the bull that Spring spew.
JAMAL HENRY told Spring that he simply "bit off more than he could chew." Again, avoiding too much confrontation, Henry put the birdbrain, Spring, in his place.
WADE WILLIAMS as well was completely frank, calling this another of Spring's "very disappointing commentaries." Wade observed that we could now safely conclude that Spring is not a serious writer and called upon him to "get real."
YOURS TRULY commented that Spring was being idiotic, and was lulling himself into thinking that others will actually believe the lying junk he writes. I observed that Spring was so clueless that he was even succeeding in fooling himself.
LIVY, elsewhere, made the point that Spring was even MACHIAVELLIAN! Nicolas Machiavelli was a cunning, unscrupulous Italian political theorist who used clever trickery and amoral methods to deceive and manipulate others for his personal gain. Livy therefore, compared these two detestable and reprehensible individuals who must both be public enemy number one.
Spring and Dishonesty
We have already discussed Spring's blatant lies, but his faults lie much deeper than outright lying. Recently, I exposed and charged Markie Spring with plagiarism and here is what happened. Spring and I, who live miles apart, unknowingly listened to TV Evangelist Joel Osteen preaching about "developing your pearl." Osteen even used an example concerning the challenge of shipping codfish, where they solved the problem by placing a catfish in the shipping container with the cod.
Spring copied Osteen's sermon 100% and presented it as his own on September 13, 2011, on this very forum. Spring even COPIED the very subject line and the example of the codfish as well. There is nothing wrong with utilizing information from another writer or speaker, but the problem is in attempting to fool the general public by pretending the ideas are your own. What should have happened here is that, Spring should have indicated that he was REPRINTING Joel Osteen's sermon.
This however, does not end here. Spring has long attempted to deliberately and dishonestly mislead the public by pretending he did not support either political party in St Vincent. This is simply not true, and I take particular objection to Spring thinking that the public would believe what he writes. What utter contempt this man holds for his readers! Does he really think that he is able to fool the majority of readers here? This man must really have an over-blown ego and feeling of self importance. In fact, it is actually a deep-down feeling of inadequacy and inferiority!
Spring also attempts to tell the general public that St Vincent has not experienced an educational revolution during the last eleven years. What does he call this product from one of the smallest countries in the entire world that has given a free computer to each and every one of the 30,000 school children in the country? What does Spring call the increase in primary school teachers with university degrees from 4 to 500 in only ten years? What does Spring call the increase in secondary school enrollment from 39% to 100% in only eleven years? At the UWI, Vincentians comprise the largest national group ON EVERY CAMPUS, with the exception of the host country. Is Spring delusional, or what? This man's dishonesty knows no bounds!
Spring’s Inferiority Complex
Spring has done well educationally, in the last ten years. (Well, in comparison to his being a Vincentian policeman on the beat, a few years ago.) As a result, he has bypassed his expectations, and now does not know how to handle that success. He has resorted to pretending that he is more knowledgeable than everyone else. "He knows everything!" Give him a chance, and he will want to advise you in your own field of expertise.
Spring on several occasions, on this very blog, has written that he wants to advise engineers locally, regionally and internationally -- and he is NOT even an engineer! Spring admits that he took one course in urban geography, but he wants to "advise" someone with a Masters in Urban Planning! Arnhim Eustace has possessed his Masters degree in economics for about forty years now, and Spring wants to "advise" Eustace! He said so on this website.
Get into a discussion with Spring, and don't agree with him, and he wants to teach you how to debate! The man is an absolute egomaniac!
Even if he is ignorant of your credentials, he wants to pretend he is more intelligent and knowledgeable. What is happening here is that he is so insecure, and he feels so inferior, that he feels the need to appear to be larger than life. The man has a serious inferiority complex.
Spring's Lying Knows No Bounds
Markie Spring has now moved his lying to another level in a vain attempt to shift the focus of his persistent lies away from him. I have been on him like 'white on rice,' keeping the pressure on Spring opposing his pathetic lying. He feels the heat, and is trying any and everything to deflect my focus on him.
