Letter: The plague of nonsense
Published on September 9, 2013 Email To Friend    Print Version

Dear Sir:

Since 2001, a plague of nonsense has hit St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). During that period of time common sense got up and walked out of the country.

They blocked the roads in 2000 because they said the government was corrupt. At the heart of the corruption they said were the so-called greedy bill and the Ottley Hall project. Led by the Organization in Defense of Democracy (the Odd Thing) and the Unity Labour Party (ULP) they were inspired to push for a 30% pay raise. However, the more cynical endgame included early elections and a change of government.

Look how things are different today. They have passed many aspect of the so-called greedy bill through the backdoor. No one has ever been jailed for the Ottley Hall project because as everyone soon recognized, it was a tall story on the people to get into office.

After many in the Odd Thing were rewarded, the Odd Thing has disappeared from whence it came. And still, some 12 years later, the people cannot smell the sum of the 30%.

Blinded by the gift of gab, many lap up the haze of nonsense without stopping to evaluate that common sense matters. Right on cue they regurgitate and spew the sputum.

The New Democratic Party (NDP) did nothing in 17 years, no schools were built. Somehow, they see schools such as the A-level college, C.W. Prescod and many more including the Voc-Tech centers and convinced themselves nothing was built.

Other examples include the development of the road, water and electrical systems. The transformation of the reclamation site and Kingstown with the building of the Financial Complex, Little Tokyo and the market. Not to mention the Traffic Light System, the Cruise Ship berth, Ottley Hall Marina and the Container Port at Camden Park. But they repeat the nonsense without conscience that nothing was done by the NDP.

Furthermore, many sit back and laugh when their black brothers and sisters are called all manner of names. Here are a few of the greatest hits: worthless dirty dog, voting cattle, lowest common denominator, of a learned deficit, malignant, chatting nabobs, untutored, unlearned, uncultured, eternal failures and many more outrageous comments and names.

The length that some went to defend the “P” hole comment was, oh sooo… ridiculous! I will deal with the “P” hole bomb in a separate letter entitled, “The “P” hole chronicles.”

They accept these types of nonsense as leadership and fail to realize that President Bush would not see them too in the alley in the dark of the night. When will this nonsense stop being portrayed as charisma and leadership?

In the meanwhile, it’s ode to the King who cannot see that the responsibility for “the plague of nonsense” is within. Like Oedipus Rex he is too blind! Or is it too bright? Thus with a change of government, moral order will be restored and we will see an end to the epidemic of nonsense.

Peace and justice and get real.

Lennford, I always love what you write because its well explained, and true to fact.

Spot on brother, now watch the usual attack against you start, they will call you all the usual names. They just hate the truth, because the truth damages the ULP and all its leaders.

Keep writing the truth brother.

Thanks, Mr. O'Garro.

The TRUTH shall make us all FREE.
