Saint Vincent and the Caribbean currently has its fair share of Communists, and it has had more than its share in the past.
Understand the true nature of those who are labeled Marxist-Leninist or Marxist or Leninist. To understand what some of our leaders truly are, just read some of the sayings that the men who they follow uttered.
Karl Marx sayings
“Religion is the impotence of the human mind to deal with occurrences it cannot understand.”
“The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: Abolish all private property.”
“The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.”
“The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.”
"Philosophy is to the real world as masturbation is to sex”
"Religion is the opium of the masses.”
“The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways; the point, however, is to change it.”
“We should not say that one man's hour is worth another man's hour, but rather that one man during an hour is worth just as much as another man during an hour. Time is everything, man is nothing: he is at the most times carcass.”
“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.”
“I am not a Marxist.” [Never admit to being a Marxist]
“For the bureaucrat, the world is a mere object to be manipulated by him.”
“The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion”
“The writer must earn money in order to be able to live and to write, but he must by no means live and write for the purpose of making money.”
"The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.”
Vladimir Lenin's sayings
"The goal of socialism is communism.”
“If our comrades in all lands help us now to organize a united army, no shortcomings will prevent us from accomplishing our task. That task is the world proletarian revolution, the creation of a world Soviet republic.”
– Vladimir Lenin, Second Congress of the Communist International, July 19-August 7, 1920
"A lie told often enough becomes the truth.” [Keep telling a lie over and over people will eventually believe it]
"There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel.”
"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” [It takes four years of education to make a child a lifelong communist]
"Destroy the family, you destroy the country.”
"The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.” [Tax the middle class out of existence, link it with inflation and you will destroy the middle class]
“It is true that liberty is precious; so precious that it must be carefully rationed." [Don’t give the people too much freedom]
"He who now talks about the ‘freedom of the press’ goes backward, and halts our headlong course towards Socialism.” [Freedom of the press is bad for communism]
"We do not have time to play at ‘oppositions’ at ‘conferences.’ We will keep our political opponents… whether open or disguised as ‘nonparty,’ in prison.” [Own the party, own the jobs, own the government]
"One of the basic conditions for the victory of socialism is the arming of the workers and the disarming of the bourgeoisie (the middle class).”
"One man with a gun can control 100 without one.”
“A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie.”
“The goal of socialism is communism.”
“Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in ancient Greek republics: Freedom for slave owners.”
“The bourgeoisie is many times stronger than we. To give it the weapon of freedom of the press is to ease the enemy’s cause, to help the class enemy. We do not desire to end in suicide, so we will not do this.” [Destroy Nice Radio and The News newspaper]
“All our lives we fought against exalting the individual, against the elevation of the single person, and long ago we were over and done with the business of a hero, and here it comes up again: the glorification of one personality. This is not good at all. I am just like everybody else.”
“The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.”
“Capitalists are no more capable of self-sacrifice than a man is capable of lifting himself up by his own bootstraps.”
“It is impossible to predict the time and progress of revolution. It is governed by its own more or less mysterious laws.”
“The history of all countries shows that the working class exclusively by its own effort is able to develop only trade-union consciousness.”
“Under socialism all will govern in turn and will soon become accustomed to no one governing.”
“While the State exists there can be no freedom; when there is freedom there will be no State.”
“Without a revolutionary theory there cannot be a revolutionary movement.”
“A revolution is impossible without a revolutionary situation; furthermore, not every revolutionary situation leads to revolution.”
“Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever.”
“Without a revolutionary theory there cannot be a revolutionary movement.”
“The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.”
"Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism.”
"The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses.”
"Literature must become party literature. Down with unpartisan litterateurs! Down with the superman of literature! Literature must become a part of the general cause of the proletariat.”

D. Markie Spring:
Peter, let me ask - why do you think that so leaders around the world cling to Communism and in some cases Socialism?
One could see clearly that this economic system is a failure, I dont understand, but I think I get it.
HOw would u describe Russia's economic system vs China, Saudi Arabia and Iran?
This worth debating
MARKIE, yes it would be interesting, unfortunatly I am researching a couple of things at the moment. I am reading all the Wikileaks documents. I am also travelling for Christmas.
My time is called for also by several large international corporations who require some serious advice on policy.
A number of rulers around the world stick to the socialist system, because there are more poor people than rich, therefore if they can control the majority they can control their countries. If there are not enough poor people, they create a new poor by destroying the fibre of the middle class.
I believe that most of these people cloak their Marxism by calling it socialism. They want to be dictators, they want no opposition.
SEASONS GREETING TO YOU ALL, THE LONG, THE SHORT AND THE TALL.
I HOPE YOU ALL FIND THE HEALTH, WEALTH AND HAPPINESS THAT YOU DESERVE.
REMEMBER TO FIND TIME THIS CHRISTMAS TO DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR A FAMILY LESS FORTUNATE THAN YOU.
PERHAPS A NICE LITTLE DROP IN THE SALVATION ARMY KETTLE FUND, IF NOTHING ELSE, WILL BE A HELP TO FEED THE HOMELESS THIS CHRISTMAS.
Are you all aware that between the Catholic Cathedral feeding station and the Salvation Army, there are close to 200 homeless people to feed and look after in Kingstown.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
