When a man or woman is captured and forced into slavery, do they forever more yearn freedom? When a person is born captive, born a slave, do they know any different? Do they yearn freedom?
When a person is born free, free to speak, free to worship, free to travel and roam, do they even think of the enslaved? Do they even consider it wrong? Or do all these people accept that what they have is what they have, is what they are.
How many people care about the plight of others? How many consider a person’s destiny other than their own? How many people consider it wrong to enslave another? To capture the body and mind of another? How many are willing to help someone who is enslaved to break their bondage?
How many care that in their own house, own village, own country, there are people who are unfree?
How many care that young boys, little boys are sold into bondage to dirty nasty old men in Africa and Middle East to use as perverted sex objects, to bugger and rip savagely apart in that very act?
How many care that young girls, little girls are sold into bondage to dirty nasty old men to use as perverted sex objects, to rape and rip savagely apart in that very act? How many care that girls are sold into bondage and forced to work in brothels, becoming riddled with disease and recipients of AIDS, only to be murdered when they can no longer work?
How many care that full grown men are being sold into bondage by Africans to Arabs, castrated and sold and imprisoned in rich men's households. How many care that Africans are being sold in Africa and the Middle East as house slaves.
How many care that African priests hold dozens of young girls in enslavement for them to use as sex objects, and house and field slaves, gifted by their parents in the belief it will favour them with that which they worship.
This is not yesterday that I am referring to, all these things are happening in 2013, and it’s getting worse, because of lack of compassion and action by our Caribbean governments, perhaps some of whom go to Africa and indulge in the very sex filth with children themselves.
None of our many government ministers and their politically appointed reparations committees care a damn about what is happening today. Why? Because they can get no political mileage from it; they cannot use it as an election tool; they cannot enslave the minds of their followers with a fight against slavery today. They know full well that they can make a call for reparations, promise some of their followers $200,000 each and know that it will launch them on the re-election trail, with the enslavement of the ignorant mind.
It’s today that is important, not yesterday. If our countries are not performing well, it’s not because our ancestors were slaves. It’s because today’s politicians have wrecked our economies and now want us to re-elect them on a pretence that slavery damaged us; it did not. It’s today’s politicians that have damaged us. To tell us we are damaged people is untrue and in itself will cause damage to some. Some may even believe this dastardly lie; a lie put forward to extort money from the very people who are our prospective tourists and friends.

Wellington C Ramos:
Dear Mr. Peter Binose,
I cannot believe that you have the audacity to write to the descendants of my Garifuna people who were slaughtered by the British Crown, then unlawfully imprisoned on the island of Baliceaux before they were forcefully removed to Rotan now a part of Honduras to let the genocide committed against them go unpunished.
It is not the people who are seeking Reparations for the injustices committed against my people and several other indigenous people on this planet earth who are non-caring but people like you who is currently engage in diversionary writing and racist thoughts.
There will be no let By Gone be By Gone when it comes to "Reparations" because the families of the people who were involved in committing genocide against my people possess billions of dollars in assets while my people are displaced and live in poverty.
You sound like a man who has no regrets for what the White Europeans did. If you are White I classify you as a Racist individual. If you are not White, then I consider you to be so brainwashed that you cannot even accept that injustices were done to your ancestors that warrants some form of remedy and you need help to repair your brain to think properly. I am forced to respond to your disrespectful comments to the children of the people who were punished and slaughtered by the Europeans.

This is a very thought provoking article...it rips one's preconceived ideas apart, and if we are lucky, it makes us think! It will receive many, many attacks
from all sides, but it is worth the read and the untangling of the many thoughts that will come afterwards! DKE
Wellington C. Ramos, we must approach these subjects with the truth and proof of what is actually happening today.
The matter of what you describe as Garifuna I have studied for a number of years.
It's my considered belief that the claim of a race called Garifuna is a fraud on history. The so called Garifuna were not a hybrid between a particular strain of Africans and the local island Indians. They were a ever changing set of people many different African tribes from many different countries, eventually becoming a mongrelisation of a race. Mixed with the local Kalinago, with the white escaped slaves from Barbados, all types of Africans, French settlers, English settlers. A mixture that changed almost daily with fresh arrivals of escaped slaves. It was never a matter of one on one hybridisation between a particular African variety and the Kalinago. The escaped Africans that came to our island were almost entirely men, they stole the Kalinago women and slaughtered the Kalinago men. These bands of men who called themselves Garifuna were themselves slave keepers and sold escaped individual slaves to the French. All the chiefs kept slaves and there is historical evidence of such. The people who claim to be Garifuna are guilty of the holocaust against the Kalinago people. Reparations are due from them to the few decedents of the Kalinago people who are still left in the SVG. Since the arrival of this group in other countries such as Guyana, there has been further cross breeding with people from such settled countries, I doubt very much that there is little of the SVG people left in those resettled people. The only real test must be a DNA scheme, until that is undertaken the claims to be Garifuna and to be related to each other may well be considered an unproven fact.
Sir I write this with respect without spite, malice or any racist thoughts whatsoever.
Bro. Ramos, WHAT does a red-necked WHITE Portguese with likely SLAVER AND PORTUGUESE SLAVE-TRADING descent and an ENGLISH BRED AND ENGLISH EDUCATED Afro-Saxon HAVE TO DO with "... the people who are seeking Reparations for the injustices committed against ..." our Black West Indians and SVG-New World "Garifuna", "Calinago", and "Caribe", et all?
HOW DARE YOU abrogate to yourself the 'right' to speak on the behalf of ALL "GARIFUNA" or Kalinago ['Carib'] people?
Incidentally, guys, the word CARIB is quite authentic, beside the language requirements. It derives from one of the actual tribal names of these peoples in ancient history. The Marxist revisionists have woefully misinformed us on that particular score.
Further, our "KALINAGO" tribes came VIA the Mediterranean, Africa, and Northern Scotland, from the Mediterranean civilizations. Some related tribes were already in the Beiize-Honduras areas prior to the British transplantation of the Hairounian Kalinago to Ratuan Islands. Indeed, their greatest tribe historically, of those who reached the West, were the ancient MAYA of widespread cultural influence in Centro Americano. It was these latter, the MAYANS, whose extensive WRITING RECORDS that the Spanish-Portuguese CATHOLIC priestly order, the Jesuits, sought to hurriedly destroy and totally extirpate, in order to 'justify' the "uncivilized heathen" dogma to support the Spanish outrages and genocides. Even our First Year high school students in SVG have access to this realization or are otherwise made aware of this latter subterfuge, nowadays.
Wellington, how do you admire the attempt by these Marxist puppets, one a British-educated RED Portuguese who sadly never studied WEST INDIAN HISTORY in his high school, to GIVE A PASS TO THEIR ETHNIC "kith and kin" in PORTUGAL AND SPAIN?
I have had occasion in the recent past, Ramos, to point out to you the utter lack of logic and rational thinking in some of your avowed discourses. You come off here, again, as acutely irrational and extremely bigoted.
I know of the Euro-American "educated ignorance" and MARXIST ['pseudo-liberal' and 'progressive' falsely so-called] indoctrination in their colleges and universities. But, surely, YOU can think independently for yourself? You wish all of us to be "so brainwashed" by the shameful IGNORANCE AND UTTER STUPIDITY that unfortunately 'passes' for "higher education" these days?
Your response above, specifically, is but yet another embarrassing sample of your poor indoctrination and brain-befuddlement. I guess is just PAR FOR THE COURSE of the contemporary for a US temporary part-time lecturer, with the expected one-sided, skewed, thinking. 1984 in-a 2013!
Come join us in frankly exploring the real truth about the GARIFUNA and KALINAGO people. Neither YOU nor "WE" have a special corner on the market for truth. Let us join on this Garifuna history journey together. Don't try to use enraged strictures to SHUT the brethren us. Warrant and justify your positions. Try extending some respect to the sons of your "ancestral homeland". 'Nuff respect, sir.
