Holiday gift ideas: Revolutionary credit card-sized folding utility knives

Watch it unfold

Iain Sinclair Design of London has developed three new revolutionary Cardsharp® designs, including Cardsharp4 (shown above) – Sinclair’s first metal credit card folding utility knife.

Cardsharp4’s body is precision CNC machined from a wafer thin (2mm) strip of ultralight aluminum and is combined with an extra long (65mm) curved edge blade, made from surgical grade stainless steel.

The handy pocket-sized gadget features spring loaded hinges to enable easy assembly from credit card format into the Cardsharp® knife. The hinges also ensure that Cardsharp4 remains flat while in card mode, with no sagging. Two childproof safety lock sliders offer ultimate rigidity in both open and closed positions, as well as preventing accidental opening when in card mode. A tough, heavy duty tool suitable for most cutting tasks, Cardsharp4 includes hard anodized surface finish and is available in natural silver or matt black with matching blade.
Cardsharp4: $90/€67 plus shipping.

Also newly launched is the Cardsharp3, a low cost ultra sharp version manufactured with a black engineering polymer body and a Sheffield-made natural stainless steel straight edge blade. A new blade lock has been added to help prevent blade tremor, together with an improved childproof safety catch. Cardsharp3 is believed to be the sharpest knife in the world at the lowest cost.
Cardsharp3: $13/€10 plus shipping.

The Cardsharp2.2 is the evolution of the original Cardsharp®. Newly added features include two safety sliders for added rigidity using technology borrowed from the Cardsharp4, and a ribbed engineered black polymer body for extra strength, making this a great value mid range knife.
Cardsharp2.2: $33/€24 plus shipping.

Just three ingenious folding operations turn each Cardsharp® into an elegant pocket utility tool. Less bulky than a pocket knife and as sharp as a scalpel, the Cardsharp® offers high performance with confidence. All Cardsharp® products can be customized with laser engraving. Each product is packed in a CD case sized black card gift box.

Cardsharp® is the first real innovation in penknives since the first folding knife, which has been around for over 2,000 years and is virtually unchanged from today’s Swiss Army penknife. Cardsharp® is thinner, lighter and, due to its use of surgical steel, sharper. The Cardsharp® is sharp enough to cut through an automobile safety seat belt in an emergency.

With a versatile range of uses the Cardsharp® is a must-have tool for:

• Camping/outdoors/survival
• EDC (Every Day Carry)
• Home Improvement
• Food prep/cooking/kitchen use
• Crafts/model making
• Fishing/hunting
• Emergency/first aid
• Unboxing/packaging

Available from: iainsinclair.com the Cardsharp2.2, Cardsharp3 and Cardsharp4 are available to pre-order from December 3rd 2013 with the first wave of exclusive orders to be dispatched within 4-8 weeks.
