Published on June 23, 2012 Email To Friend    Print Version

BELFAST, Northern Ireland -- The talent of golfers and Open Champions hailing from Northern Ireland is bringing positive publicity and goodwill to the country and game, with various stakeholders working to create golf and tourism links between other markets.

Through thr efforts of the Consulate of St Vincent and the Grenadines to Northern Ireland, presentations have been delivered on The Grenadines Estate Golf Club in Canouan. This exhilarating and challenging Jim Fazio-designed 18-hole championship golf course, set on dramatic sloping hills and the Caribbean Sea’s edge, is a world leader, being awarded “Best Golf Course” - Robb Report (June 2005).

Celebrity television duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, popularly known as “Ant & Dec”, were guests at Royal Portrush Golf Course as Graeme McDowell, 2010 US Open Winner, hosted a Masterclass, before playing the prestigious course.

Rory McIlroy, also from Northern Ireland and currently number one in the world, was present at the event, along with a variety of other big name golfers and individuals.

Royal Portrush will be host to the Irish Open from 28 June to 01 July, 2012.
