First sitting of OECS regional assembly to convene in Antigua next week

ST JOHN’S, Antigua -- The OECS Authority has convened the first sitting of the OECS Assembly on Tuesday March 26 2013.

In preparation for this sitting a seminar is planned to facilitate discussion of the rules of procedure for the Assembly, and aspects of the Revised Treaty of Basseterre that support the work of the Assembly. The seminar will be conducted on the day before the sitting and both events will take place at the Parliament Building in St John’s, Antigua commencing at 9:00 am.

At this sitting, the Assembly will be adopting its rules of procedure and debating the following –

1. A motion on “The Challenges to the Free Movement of Persons within the OECS Economic Union”

2. Amendment to the Civil Aviation Act, Regulations -
a. Civil Aviation (Aeronautical Telecommunications) Regulations
b. Civil Aviation (Amendment) Regulations

As chairman of the OECS Authority, St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves will present the motion and the draft bill for debate.
