CHARLESTOWN, Nevis -- The Nevis Turf and Jockey Club hosted its first horse race meet for the year at the Indian Castle race track on Sunday.

A small crowd was on hand but they were not disappointed, as there was much excitement from at least three of the four races, which were keenly contested.

The final race of the day however was a cliff hanger as Wild Candy and Real Aspectation raced to the finish line in a breath taking photo finish.

The officials, led by chief steward Gary Griffin, had to resort to the video footage before coming up with the final decision. Wild Candy had won by a nose!

The summarized results for the day are as follows:

Race one:
Xmind
Showtime
Grey Ghost

Race two:
Sheik Sung
Dark N Chip

Race three:
Shaken Shaye
Lady Boss
Gottogetdrythym

Race four:
Wild Candy
Real Aspectation

The next meet is scheduled for Sunday February 17 and is being referred to as a big one. It will be the Tourism Gold Cup.
