ST THOMAS, USVI -- The Power Move Conference, convened by Devin ‘Dutchie’ Robinson, who is well known for his community activism, Peace Walks, seven-year project, seven-year tenure as a weekly columnist with the Virgin Islands Daily News, and his eight self-help books, will take place on October 24 and 25 in St Thomas.
The two-day conference will have a host of activities aimed at enriching and empowering the lives of US Virgin Islanders, while helping them to find economic opportunities and relief.
The conference’s first day will consist of a networking reception hosting the territory’s key leaders and conference facilitators that will be open to the general public. Day two will consist of 12 workshops led by six presenters brought in from various parts of the country, a Shark Tank Youth competition, where the winner will receive an expense paid trip to the Grand Canyon, an award ceremony for extraordinary US Virgin Islanders and more.
When asked of the significance of the conference, Robinson said, “Developing individuals is what leads to career growth and economic sustainability. Our territory’s citizens have been plagued with grim challenges over the past 6 years and I believe this conference will bring the much needed direction, inspiration and relief our people deserve.”
Robinson recently partnered with the British Virgin Islands to deliver similar training to aspiring entrepreneurs over the next three years under his Power Move Academy and is the keynote speaker for the Virgin Islands Department of Labor’s 2013 Motivational, Empowerment and Employment Connection Symposium taking place on St Croix September 18 and St Thomas September 20, both at each of the UVI campuses.
