Curacao lottery boss arrested in murder probe
Published on July 30, 2014 Email To Friend    Print Version

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao -- At 6:40 on Tuesday morning, Curacao lottery boss, Robby dos Santos, the owner of Robbies Lottery was arrested by the investigation team in charge of the probe into the intellectual authors of the murder of the late political leader and former member of parliament Helmin Wiels.

Wiels was shot dead on May 5, 2013, on a beach in Curacao. He was the leader of the largest political party in Curacao, Pueblo Soberano.

Three suspects have now been arrested in the case: former ministers Carlos Monk and George Jamaloodin and now Robby dos Santos.

Monk was the former minister of administration, planning and service and of education for Pueblo Soberano and was released after being questioned.

Jamaloodin is a member of the Movimentu Futuro Korsou (MFK) party of former prime minister Gerrit Schotte and was minister from 2010 to 2012. Today he runs a security company. He was arrested last Thursday and remains in custody.

Before he died, Wiels announced that he was on the track of a ‘big fraud case’. The late political leader even stated that he had information about illegal SMS lotteries, which would incriminate dos Santos, who is Jamaloodin’s brother. Dos Santos also funded the MFK.
