Cuban company develops new line of cosmetics for world market
Published on December 5, 2012 Email To Friend    Print Version

HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) -- Suchel Corporation, a leader in the Cuban production and commercialisation of perfumes, cosmetics and detergents will develop a new line of natural products in 2013 to conquer foreign markets with genuinely Cuban formulas.

Suchel Import-Export general director said that the new line of products is directly related to Cuban sites, personalities, the local flora and wildlife and scents.

Suchel has largely focused on the national market, but given the country’s need of hard-currency, the company is developing products that may have an impact on the foreign market.

According to Lopez, his company has approached the international market with a portfolio of products designed for the local market, which lacks certain features that makes a difference.

Among the challenges posed to achieving these goals, are the sanitary regulations, high tariffs and a strong competition represented by transnational companies like Colgate-Palmolive, currently leading major commercial circuits.

The official said that another priority is the development of investment that allow producing oil scents from local plants, and containers and chemical materials, which are usually imported.

In the meantime, the company is looking for business opportunities in Mexico and Venezuela, which have thus far been its major markets.
