Cuba and European Union continue negotiations in Havana
Published on May 2, 2014 Email To Friend    Print Version

HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) -- Cuba and the European Union continued discussions on Wednesday towards a political dialogue and cooperation accord, according to diplomatic sources.

The negotiations aim at contributing to the normalization of relations between the European bloc and the Caribbean island. So, the current round of talks would address organizational aspects related to the dialogue, which would take place in Havana and Brussels alternatively, according to the Cuban foreign ministry.

The European Union negotiating team is headed by the general director for the Americas with the European Action Service, Christian Leffler, while the Cuban side is headed by deputy foreign minister Abelardo Moreno.

The recent visit to Cuba by French foreign minister Laurent Fabius expressed a new vision towards Cuba, according to experts. Fabius held a long meeting with President Raul Castro.

The French government official was accompanied by entrepreneurs interested in exploring opportunities offered by the new Cuban Foreign Investment Law.
