MUMBAI, India -- West Indies Women’s coach Sherwin Campbell said his side had the capacity to beat any team on any given day, but they had to show more consistency.

Campbell urged his side to lift their game, after they limped into the Super Six stage of the ICC Women’s World Cup, following a six-wicket defeat against England Women in their final group match on Tuesday.

Kyshona Knight hit the top score of 33 and Shanel Daley supported with 30 not out, as the Windies Women, choosing to bat, were dismissed for 101 in 36.4 overs in the Group-A match at Bandra Kurla Complex.

Deandra Dottin snared 3-20 from five overs, but the English, the reigning World Cup champions, cantered to their target, crossing the finish line with 90 deliveries remaining.

“We just did not click in all areas of the game,” he said. “It is something at which we have to take a look and we have to lift our game against the top teams in particular and perform to the best of our ability, which we did not do in this game.

“When we play against teams like Australia, New Zealand and England, we need to have the same positive mindset that we had against the other teams – and we’ve got to back ourselves to do well against these teams.”

Campbell added: “But we have an opportunity to reach the next stage and we need to regroup in the next couple of days and re-focus on what we want to achieve during the Super Six.

“We have to instil self-confidence in the players, in their ability and let them know they can beat any team on their day. This will be the key – but they have to be honest with themselves.”

Campbell said neither the conditions nor the England bowling were troublesome, but the players failed to make good decisions.

“The pitch was not troublesome and the bowling was not spectacular,” he said. ”If you look at the dismissals, there were from balls that against other teams we would dispatch to the boundary.”

“We have two days before our first game in the Super Six against South Africa. We just had a good series against them at home. We have to play well against them.

Campbell said: “But the main focus will be doing well against the teams ranked above us – Australia and New Zealand.

“This was not a big setback to momentum. It’s the Super Six stage now and it’s a different ball game, and the players have to enter this stage of the tournament with a positive frame of mind, looking to do well, and to get as far as we can. They are here because they are good enough to be here.”
