Chavez returns to Venezuela
Published on February 19, 2013 Email To Friend    Print Version

CARACAS, Venezuela (ACN) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived in the early hours on Monday in Caracas, Telesur TV channel reported.

The news was confirmed by Venezuelan vice-president Nicolas Maduro, who added that the head of state is at the military hospital in Caracas, where he will continue to take treatment.

Chavez announced on Twitter that he had arrived in Venezuela and he praised God and thanked the Venezuelan people. He also thanked Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and Cuba.

Maduro recalled the hard days of intense struggle during the recovery process in Cuba since last December.

He also thanked the Venezuelan people for their support and affection expressed to Chavez and he went on to say that Venezuela as a whole has been a united family while accompanying the president in the good and the bad times.

Telesur reported that, after the news of Chavez’s return was published, his supporters flocked to the centrally located Bolivar square to voice their satisfaction at having their leader back home.

Parliament president Diosdado Cabello called on Venezuelans to fly the national flag in recognition of the return of the head of state, while messages flooded the social network Twitter.
