British team evaluates budgetary aid to Montserrat

BRADES, Montserrat -- Britain’s Department for International Development (DFID) held its first meeting evaluating the budgetary aid mission to Montserrat with the government on Wednesday. The economic and budgetary review meetings run from the 19th-26th February.

The team is holding talks with the premier, government ministers, and senior public sector officials to:

• Evaluate the budget outturn for 2013/2014 against estimates, variations in revenues and spending plans.

• Examine the impact of external developments with a review of macroeconomic and fiscal forecasts for 2014/2015.

• Review 2014/2015 budget estimates including domestic revenue projections and policy objectives.

• Discuss an approach to multi-year recurrent budget settlement.

• Evaluate performance of the capital projects portfolio.

• Agree on a model and content for SGP MOU Phase 11.

• Review of retention issues, establishment and non-establishment numbers, government public sector reforms and reviews, and pensions.

• Assess departmental policy priorities.

• Address spending plans for 2014/2015 and indicative plans through to 2016/2017.

The DFID mission team will meet with the opposition, government ministries and departments on 26th February.
