Belize's first female prime minister
Published on September 9, 2013 Email To Friend    Print Version

Belize’s first female prime minister

By Abdulmajeed K. Nunez

Will she be like Margaret Thatcher?
Or as charismatic as Benazir
Or as bold as Portia Simpson
Or Trinidad’s Kamla Persad Bissesar
Will it be she who stood up to OCEANA
Endorsed by Mr Machiavelli when he dubbed her persona non grata
That she was destined to be Belize’s first female prime minister

Could she be the former second Belize City Council female mayor?
Or the biologist from Amandala?
Or either a Channel 5 or 7 news anchor
Or perhaps the former PSU president
A lot is dependent on the people’s preference
In any event the incumbent
Perhaps the wife of the Mayan activist
Then again there may be an interesting twist
It may even be a revolutionist
Like Mrs Chris
Check this!

Some have ruled out those currently involved in politics
The area representative from Collet, Ms Z and Dolores
At whose bequest, No time to jest
What about the rest?
It’s all about progress
After thirty-two years we seem to have regress
Does Shoman have any interest?
It might just be a game of chess
A lot is dependent on private sector interest
We all know there are those willing to invest
To ensure their own interest
And then again one might emerge buy popular request
Nonetheless it will be a true test
There will be good, better, and best
One of them must past the test
So ladies big up unu chest and do what right for the people’s interest
